Dry Eye Diagnosis
At the Dry Eye Center, we go beyond a quick exam to find the true cause of your dry eye. Because every patient is different, we use advanced tools to measure your tear quality, gland health, and overall eye surface condition.

Your evaluation may include:

-
Symptom review & history: We’ll ask about your daily habits, medications, and how often you notice discomfort.
-
Tear film analysis: Special imaging shows if your tears are evaporating too quickly or if you’re not producing enough.
-
Meibomian gland imaging (meibography): High-resolution pictures of the tiny oil glands in your eyelids help us see if they’re blocked or damaged.
-
Tear breakup time: A dye test shows how long your tears stay stable before they evaporate.
-
Ocular surface staining: Gentle dyes highlight areas of dryness or irritation on your cornea.
-
Inflammation testing: Some advanced tests can measure the level of inflammation on your eye’s surface.
With this information, we can determine whether your dry eye is caused by poor tear production, blocked glands, inflammation, or a combination of factors — and then create a customized treatment plan.
